Summer Science Camp


 

Get Geeked about summer at Michigan�s largest science center! Our camp programs for children entering grades 1 � 6 feature IMAX� Dome Theatre and Dassault Syst�mes Planetarium shows, 200+ hands-on exhibits, outdoor activities and visits to other nearby cultural institutions. Campers also receive lunch, snacks, a camp photo and a free t-shirt. Five-day camps include:

 

For Children Entering Grades 1 � 3

Science Spectacular � June 18-22 OR July 23-27
Discover five areas of science and everything the Science Center has to offer in this one-of-a-kind camp! Campers will explore physical, space, life, earth and technology sciences through hands-on activities, workshops and more.

Construction Junction � June 25-29 OR July 30-Aug. 3

Become a contractor and learn the skills of a construction engineer. Campers will delve into the awesome world of building through fun, science-based activities such as constructing a box city with houses, bridges and towers. 

 

Surfing the Solar System � July 9-13 OR Aug. 6-10

Blast off to the stars and other planets in this Solar System mission. Campers will soar to adventurous expeditions that explore space travel, rockets, alien life, astronaut living and more.

 

Larger than Life: Explore Your World! � July 16-20

Train to become mini paleontologists, geologists and meteorologists by researching rocks, fossils, and weather. Campers also will examine the earth from prehistoric to present times and try to understand our changing earth and what we can do to protect it.

Inventor Invasion � June 25-29 OR July 30-Aug. 3
Unleash your child�s engineering ingenuity. Campers will discover their ability to make inventions, while learning about one of today�s greatest inventions: bridges! Campers also will discover the mystery of how cars and simple machines work and how buildings can stand so tall. 

 

Missing Maple Mystery � July 9-13 OR Aug. 6-10

Get ready to gather and analyze evidence in a fictitious crime scene. Campers will find the culprit that ate the maple syrup using several scientific techniques including chromatography, fiber, powder and fingerprint analysis. This is fun forensic science!

 
Doctor Discovery � July 16-20
Do you want to be a doctor when you grow up? Why wait? From diagnosing a patient as a family doctor to filling cavities as a dentist, campers will dive into a different medical profession everyday. Campers will perform hands-on experiments and mock medical procedures at Doctor Discovery camp, where we inspire the doctors of tomorrow, today!
