Photo Policy
Visitor Photography Policy
Still photography is permitted for private, noncommercial use only. Photographs cannot be published, sold, reproduced, transferred, distributed, or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner whatsoever. Photography is not permitted in areas designated "No Photography," including the IMAX� Dome Theatre and Dassault Systèmes Planetarium. Personal video cameras are permitted, except in the IMAX� Dome Theatre and Dassault Systèmes Planetarium, unless otherwise stated.
The New Detroit Science Center reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withhold and/or withdraw permission to photograph on its premises or to reproduce photographs of objects in its facility.
Media Photography Policy
Members of the media may photograph or film within designated areas of the facility for the purpose of news coverage that includes The New Detroit Science Center. All members of the media are asked to contact the Marketing & Communications Department prior to arrival at the Science Center. A member of the Marketing & Communications Department or the Officer on Duty must be present to escort members of the media through the facility. To make arrangements, call 313-577-8400, x430 or x434. Please try to make arrangements with the Marketing & Communications Department at least 24 hours in advance to ensure availability.
Because the Science Center is open to the public every day, special arrangements can not be made to quarantine an area from normal visitor traffic. All filming and photography must be conducted without disruption to Science Center operations or limitations to accessibility of exhibitions, stairwells, entrances/exits, high traffic areas or other locations of interest to Science Center visitors.
The Science Center requests that photo credits identify the area of the Science Center where the photo was taken and if a photographer is credited. If at all possible, clips showing the photography used should be sent to:
