Webelos & Boy Scouts! 2003-2004

The Scouting Programs at The New Detroit Science Center offer four interactive laboratories, an IMAX® Dome Theatre, the Dassault Systèmes Planetarium, live presentations on two science stages, hands-on activities and themed educational programs in the Ford Learning Resource Center.

Workshops:

  • Option 1 - Cost: $10
    10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Includes Science Center general admission, choice of workshop, workshop materials and activity badge (Webelos) or merit badge (Scouts).

  • Option 2 - Cost: $20
    10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Includes Science Center general admission, choice of workshop, materials for workshop and activity badge (Webelos) or merit badge (Scouts), a Science Center patch, lunch and Dassault Systèmes Planetarium admission.

Please Note: Boy Scouts are expected to arrive in uniform for all workshops. If completing merit badge requirements, scouts must come prepared with the merit badge series book, filled out merit badge application and any required pre-requisites completed prior to workshop. A certified merit badge counselor will be on staff to verify badge completion if all criteria for that badge are met. The New Detroit Science Center merit badge counselor reserves the right to give only partial credit or no credit if all of the above requirements are not met. If registering for a merit badge workshop, a complete list of pre-requisites will be mailed to the troop leader upon registration for the workshop. It is then the responsibility of each troop leader to give all of the information to the scouts in his troop.

One chaperone is required per 10 scouts. Chaperones for workshops only (not camp-ins) are free according to the following ratio: 1 free/10 scouts. Additional adults/siblings are required to pay the full workshop fee.

Must be 13 years of age or a first class scout.

Overnight Camp-Ins:

  • Cost: $30
    7:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.

Includes Science Center general admission, hands-on experiments and activities, a Science Center patch, an IMAX® film, a late night snack and a continental breakfast.

Please Note: The Science Center requires a 1 adult/10 scouts chaperone ratio for Camp-ins. All Camp-in chaperones must pay the $30 program fee.
